Echo is looking to immediately fill a role as the Accounting Senior Manager for our subsidiary, Roadtex Transportation, that was acquired in 2022. The role will be based in Chicago at Echo’s headquarters working alongside the Roadtex President and senior leadership team. This position will directly report to the Echo Corporate Controller and play a critical role in the overall success of the accounting department. This person will oversee the operational accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, and treasury functions at Roadtex as well as helping resolve ad hoc business requests to determine the appropriate course of action to ensure success throughout the organization. The position will be responsible for the month end close, reviewing account reconciliations, participating in special projects, and communicating business and financial metrics with senior leaders at Roadtex and Echo. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive, and demonstrates high interpersonal skills to work across various functions within Roadex and Echo.
Responsibilities:
Managing the month end close process from beginning to end
Ownership of monthly financial reporting and maintaining business metrics to evaluate the company’s performance at a consolidated and terminal level
Identify and establish best-practice accounting policies and procedures
Review of balance sheet account reconciliations and income statement review to ensure proper account coding and accrual practices
Manage weekly financial dashboards for management reporting
Oversee treasury function and collaborate with treasurer on banking specific projects and ad hoc requests
Manage Roadtex accounting team and communicate effectively with various team members
Collaborate with Echo corporate office for ad hoc requests including the corporate FP&A team for financial metrics, data requests, and forecasts
Fulfill documentation requests for audit and other compliance (business, legal, and insurance) requirements
Reconciliation between TMS (ERP) system and accounting system
Assistance with accounting software integration and process mapping
Collaborates across functions including IT and operations to recommend solutions, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement projects to increase productivity and automation
Creating a culture of continuous improvement for the accounting functions
Requirements:
CPA Required
BA/BS Degree in Accounting
7+ years of experience in public or corporate accounting
Microsoft Great Plains experience is preferred
Advanced Excel capabilities
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Team player, recognizes and supports team goals over individual goals
Proactively takes ownership of assigned responsibilities and tasks
Expert problem solving skills, is able to recognize and correct a potential accounting and business issues quickly and effectively
Self-managed and motivated with a strong desire to succeed and achieve goals
