We are seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operations of Echo’s cloud and middleware infrastructure. You’ll work together with software engineering and architecture teams to build and support scalable, reliable platforms across AWS and on-prem environments. This is a strategic, high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges in a fast-paced, logistics-focused environment.
What You’ll Do
-Design and manage Echo’s AWS infrastructure with a focus on performance, automation, and scale
– Operate and scale Kubernetes clusters (EKS and on-prem) supporting critical application workloads
– Own and manage middleware platforms including, RabbitMQ, Kafka/MSK, and Elasticsearch
– Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools
– Build and improve CI/CD pipelines supporting high-velocity application delivery
– Apply strong Linux engineering skills for systems troubleshooting, tuning, and support
– Collaborate with product, architecture, and other stakeholders to ensure cloud technologies are designed in accordance with product roadmaps and well-architected frameworks.
-Investigate and resolve complex cloud infrastructure related issues and recommend and develop solutions to issues and create documentation of reengineering processes as required.
– Drive observability, incident management, and performance optimization practices
– Lead implementation of cloud security controls, cost management, and infrastructure governance
– Mentor team members and promote a culture of ownership and operational excellence
What We’re Looking For
– 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles
– Expert-level experience with AWS, including EC2, EKS, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, and Fargate
– Strong Linux systems engineering background in production environments
– Deep experience operating Kubernetes at scale (EKS and on-prem)
– Experience managing Kafka (MSK) and Elasticsearch in real-time, high-throughput environments
– Expert-level in infrastructure-as-code and scripting (Terraform, Python, Bash, etc.)
– Strong collaboration skills with software development and architecture teams
– Solid understanding of networking, IAM, cloud security, and system performance
Nice to Have
– AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps Engineer – Professional, etc.)
– Familiarity with GitOps, Helm, Prometheus, and Grafana
– Experience in hybrid cloud environments or cloud migration projects
– Exposure to logistics or transportation systems a plus

Compensation
$129,200.00-189,800.00 per year
This role is eligible for a bonus that is based on a combination of personal and business performance.
