The US Licensed Customs Broker- US Customs is responsible for setting up or onboarding new accounts as well as managing the day-to-day business for US customs brokerage accounts, while growing those accounts and maintaining Echo’s values. Also, this individual will supervise and manage the account management team for customs brokerage services.

EchoXborder will be focused on providing U.S. Customs Brokerage and Mexican Brokerage Services.
Position Overview: The US Licensed Customs Broker- US Customs is responsible for setting up or onboarding new accounts as well as managing the day-to-day business for US customs brokerage accounts, while growing those accounts and maintaining Echo’s values. Also, this individual will supervise and manage the account management team for customs brokerage services.
The US Licensed Customs Broker ensures all loads/shipments are cleared in a timely and compliant manner in accordance with each client’s SOP and customs rules and regulations, as determined by the onboarding process of each account. They should have a thorough understanding of US Customs Law, trade agreements and other government agency requirements. As well as their accounts requirements and expectations. Manages the customers. Creating role clarity for day-to-day management for the US Customs brokerage account managers. Collaborate with Mexico operations department to manage door to door shipment execution.
Administratively, the individual will prepare US Customs proposals for prospects, collaborate with sales teams during the sales process performing live demos of Echo technology, set up initial credit during the on boarding process and oversee the timely and proper billing procedures in day-to-day business of customs fees and customer duties and taxes. Collaborate with the collections department when needed.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day business for all US Customs Brokerage accounts.
Daily communication with customers.
Manage the US Customs account management team in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo offices.
Manage daily workload and workflow for all the loads/shipments via email, teams, related systems.
Collaborate with the Mexico Operations department for proper execution of southbound and northbound shipments.
Manage US customs compliance requirements on day to day and post entry audit procedures.
Setting up SOPs to fulfill customers’ needs and requirements
Interact with local Carriers and Echo Mexico Operations teams to coordinate local transportation needs.
Track and monitor shipment during normal shift operations. Support operational issues after hours on an exception basis.
Perform root cause analysis in service failures. Implement preventive and corrective actions.
Oversee onboarding process for new accounts.
Prepare and present monthly and quarterly performance indicators to customers.
Prepare account manager incentive goals and productivity KPI’s.
Provide exceptional customer service by developing good working relationships with customers.
By constant contact (phone, e-mail, etc.)
By offering solutions/options for the customers’ supply chain and customs needs.
Always have open and professional lines of communication with the customer.
Always provide solutions for issues such as cross-border logistics delays, customs system issues, or incorrect documentation, etc. to maintain customer satisfaction.
Maintain updated and current records of accounts.
Maintain and update internal customer SOP.
Maintain customers profiles
Ensure efficient and effective communication between all departments.
Ensure all operations systems are updated timely and accurately.
Manage timely and correct billing from partners
Skills & Qualifications
Proven track record of closing business deals and meeting budgeted sales targets.
Demonstrated experience leading meetings with clients at various management levels on both sides of the border.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Extensive understanding and knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and cross-border logistics.
Strong knowledge of industry terminology, methods, and procedures.
Experience in pricing, carrier management, and operations is a plus.
Knowledge of various modes of transportation with a deep understanding of an ever-evolving market.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Proven experience in sales within third-party logistics (3PL) or the outsourced transportation industry, especially in cross-border and intra-Mexico operations.
In-depth knowledge of Echo Mexico’s business plan and the company’s future objectives.
Requirements
10 years’ minimum experience in US Customs Cross Border operations.
Willingness to travel as needed to attend client meetings and industry events.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels both internally and with clients.
Ability to work independently, self-manage, and stay motivated in a dynamic work environment.
Enjoys and thrives in a fast-paced, fluid work environment.
Strong ability to follow through on tasks to completion.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Strong oral and written communication skills (English and Spanish) and excellent interpersonal abilities.
Required Education and Experience: Customs Broker License issued by Customs and Border Protection.
United States Customs Brokerage academic training.
